The Artist
Jaimie Charles is a ceramic artist and educator currently located in Stamford, Connecticut. She began selling her “Jaimieware” pottery in 2011 and has since participated in numerous art markets, craft fairs, and exhibitions. Each of Jaimie's pieces are crafted individually by hand, often beginning from a wheel-thrown form which is then embellished with additional detail. Her unique style has developed over years of practice refining techniques including carving, imprinting, and slip trailing.

In addition to her work as an artist, Jaimie has been teaching high school ceramics for more than ten years. As an educator her students’ enthusiasm within the classroom inspires her creative drive, and her experimentations in her personal studio bring forth new learning into the classroom. This cyclical energy continually renews her creative style as she discovers new forms, surface patterns, and designs.

The Art

Jaimie’s current body of work is a collection of decorated, functional, wheel-thrown porcelain pieces. The forms and patterns used are often inspired by imagery found in nature or textiles. While some pieces may share similar style, each becomes an individual artwork that has been crafted by hand. Jaimie’s hope is that the viewer will discover a piece that is unique to their own personal aesthetic.
